Adventures in Tea-tasting!
Hullo all :>
Nice to find an active tea-lover's forum! I'm quite eager to read, learn, and participate in awesome discussions about the wonder that is tea.
I had quite a bit of black tea while growing up-- though my mother liked to steep it for all of 30 seconds and reused a single teabag throughout the whole day, so I can't say I was especially keen on it until I went off to college. I then took up tea-drinking on my quest to find a caffeinated beverage that didn't upset my stomach as badly as coffee, and became quite addicted to both black and green teas, as well as a bit dependent on herbal teas to help me sleep at night.
Then, this past Christmas, when friends and family members were at a loss for gift ideas, I just asked for some good loose-leaf tea. And so it was that I received about six or so different Adagio samplers and suddenly had more tea than I knew what to do with!
Needless to say it has really been an wonderful experience trying all these different teas. Really, one of my favorite things about tea is the endless variety, and how much fun it is experimenting with different blends too!
I have been considering designing/printing/binding a sort of tea diary, with spaces for details like steeping temperature, ratio of leaf to water, and a general description/rating, just to keep track of what I've liked and loved and what I might try to tweak in future steepings (and being an aspiring graphic designer trying to build a portfolio, I think if I designed it well enough it could be a good portfolio piece too, heh).
Anyway, I've rambled enough here. Looking forward to meeting you all and talking tea. :>
